Account checklist
- Create Uganda production account
- API username and key
- Register Sender ID (max 11 chars, 2–3 weeks approval) e.g.
STPAULS - Documents: business registration, TIN, letterhead, sample messages
- Prepaid SMS top-up
- Delivery webhook configured
Uganda SMS pricing (indicative)
MTN/Airtel: UGX 18–27 per SMS depending on volume. Budget ~UGX 24–25/message for planning.
WhatsApp (later)
Meta Business Manager, WABA via AT, approved templates. AT_WHATSAPP_ENABLED=false at launch.
Compliance
Uganda Data Protection Act — guardian consent, opt-out for marketing, privacy policy on portal.
